Broadcasting, telecommunications and the Internet are converging. The future customer will expect to have access to these services independently of the current access network, being fixed or mobile. Moreover these services will have to be accessible from various terminals. Quadplay will offer significant benefits to the customers. Much R&D work is currently focussing on IPTV. Mobile IPTV is different from TV, offering a backchannel for interactivity, buddy lists for group communication, and individual devices for personalized services. Moreover, in times of Web 2.0 user generated content distribution to communities is gaining momentum raising new challenges for NGN communication services.
The MMC ‘08 workshop will discuss the emerging regulatory, business and security issues of mobile IPTV and how the evolving mobile broadcast technologies, the next generation networks and service enablers can support the quadplay demands.
The MMC ‘08 workshop on Mobile Multimedia Communications will provide an international forum to discuss and give guidance to future research, standardization and development activities of mobile IPTV in a quadplay environment. It will bring together telecommunication manufacturers, broadcast operators, cellular network operators, regulators, multimedia content providers, and R&D organizations.
The workshop will be cross-disciplinary, well focused, consisting of sessions for invited speakers and panel discussions with an amount of time devoted to discussions.
